Grateful Grateful Truly blessed and duly grateful

    8Jun/11Off

    Still here…

... keeping busy. All is well.

I feel guilty for not blogging, but I'm too tired to blog really blog. So, a few highlights:

Eddie went to visit my family in Illinois with my mom. I joined them after a few days.

Eddie had his eye surgery yesterday. It went fine, for the most part. He still doesn't like waking up from anesthesia.

Really, that's all I've got. Maybe I'll post pictures from the Illinois trip some day soon.

    Eye doctor follow up

Not only is the right tear duct still clogged despite last year's surgery, but the left one is now clogged, too.

The next step is surgery to enter tubes into both tear ducts to make them larger. After 6 months, the tubes are taken back out and we cross our fingers that it worked. The surgery they did last year has a 90% success rate. Of the 10% that go on to the tube surgery, 90% of them remain symptom free. The other 10% go on to the next surgery, where they rebuild the tear duct system. We're hoping we don't have to go there.

Surgery probably won't be scheduled until next week, but there we are.

Getting ready for the eye doctor

Today, Eddie goes to his annual check-up with the pediatric ophthalmologists. (Yes, the tear duct surgery was in January 2010. That's almost like a year.) Here's a conversation we had last night about the visit.

Me: What kind of doctor are you going to see tomorrow?
    Eddie: Um.... What's doctor's name?
    Me: Dr. Burland.
Eddie: We see Dr. Burand. He will look at my eyes. He will say they're groupie*!

    * groupie = goopey, what I tell him when his eyes are all gross and gunky with whatever makes them gross and gunky

    Mama’s boy

    Two stories, both from tonight:

    1) After playing outside with Mark, Eddie came running in with a flower. He told Mark, "I need to give this to Mommy!" As he ran in the house, he said with so much excitement, "I have a flower for you, Mommy!"

    2) While Mark and I were eating dinner, Eddie wanted me to go through a Brain Quest deck with him. (He loves that thing!) In one picture, there were three babies, and he was supposed to say how many were crying. After he got that question right, I asked him why babies cry. "Because they miss their mommy." When I asked him why babies smiled like one of the other babies in the picture, he said "Because they're with their mommy."
