    MrBaby Archive: Blog 5

Wow, have I fallen behind! I'm trying to catch this website up, and I'm very slowly making progress. As you can see, I've added a Photos page. I've also updated the Calendar. The FAQ is still a little dated; we'll see when that gets fixed. But, in the meantime, I should finish the story I started in my last post.

From Mr. Baby to Edmund John

Eddie didn't get his name until Mark, Eddie and I were in the recovery room after the surgery. Mark was insistant that we name the baby right now, so we ran through the names that we had been considering. Throughout the naming process, I hadn't wanted either of us to compromise. However, when the ideas were put forth after I had just undergone major abdominal surgery and Mark was so anxious to have a name, any name... I let my preference win out. And so Mr. Baby became Edmund John.

"Edmund" was chosen to honor Mark's uncle Ed and my grandpa Ed. Both of these Eds were Edwards, but we wanted to go a different direction while still honoring these men, and so Edmund - Eddie for short - it was. John is another family name with lots of previous Johns, including Mark's grandfather and my great grandfather. So, these names were chosen with a purpose, but we also tried to do something a little unique.

    First days home

Eddie and I came home on Saturday, January 5. We are all adjusting to going from a family of four to a family of five. We are all getting into our schedules, thanks very much to Nonna Pam, Grandma Barb, and Grandpa Mark, who have been helping out a lot around the house during the recovery period. I'm not able to do as much as I'd like while recovering from the C section, so the extra hands are very welcome, especially when Mark is at the theater.
